Today was the beginning of this year’s Star Wars Celebration, marking the biggest annual weekend for, well, Star Wars. Fans in attendance and around the world are treated to project announcements, trailers, and everything else related to the franchise. The first major panel of the event was Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase, where the studio gets to build excitement about their upcoming slate and add to it. Today’s panel kicked off with Andor, which finished airing its first season on Disney+ in November.

During their time on stage, the cast, crew, and creatives behind Andor thanked the Star Wars fans for watching the show because, without them, a second season renewal and a chance to finish this story would’ve been unlikely. They then dove into the details of the production of the second season, which is currently filming in London and is roughly halfway through its production, maintaining the pace set by the first season. By that standard, according to executive producer Tony Gilroy, with a year’s worth of post-production, the second season of Andor should be hitting Disney+ around August 2024. Additionally, fans in attendance were treated to a brief teaser for the second season of the show, and while it didn’t reveal much, it began to connect the dots between the events of season one and those of Rogue One, helping to push the story toward the Original Trilogy.
