'Killers Of The Flower Moon' Trailer: Leonardo DiCaprio And Robert De Niro Star In Scorsese's Latest Film

Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” coming soon to Apple TV+.

For just under two years, all we had from Killers of the Flower Moon was a single image—until three more were released during last month’s CinemaCon. The film, the latest from acclaimed auteur Martin Scorsese, takes place in 1920s Oklahoma, where the Osage nation of Native Americans is reaping the benefits of their shocking economic rise, benefiting from the rich oil that rests under their land. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Ernest Burkhart, the white outsider who married Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), Robert De Niro as William Hale, and Jesse Plemons as Tom White, the law officer and prison warden who finds himself in the middle of solving a large-scale power-play.

The story primarily revolves around a series of murders that takes place in this community as members are rapidly picked off for the purpose of others going after the land they own and the oil beneath it. While this happens, the newly formed FBI is finding its footing and involving itself in this case, aiming to figure out who’s behind these mass attacks, which killed dozens —if not hundreds— of Osage people.

The film’s screenplay —written by Scorsese and co-writer Eric Roth— is adapted from Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. Killers is Scorsese’s twenty-sixth feature and his tenth and sixth with De Niro and DiCaprio, respectively.

Killers of the Flower Moon is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20 before releasing in theaters on October 6 before streaming on Apple TV+ on October 20. Read the film’s synopsis and watch its first trailer below:

“At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is directed by Academy Award winner Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Scorsese, based on David Grann’s bestselling book.” — Apple TV / Paramount
