Among others, Banshees’ Kerry Condon joined the series.

Since its announcement during last year’s Star Wars Celebration, not much was known about Skeleton Crew aside from the fact that it starred Jude Law, was created by Jon Watts (Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man trilogy), and that it was about a group of 10-year-old kids trying to find their way home. That was until today when Jude Law himself took to the Celebration Stage to bring new information and exclusive footage for the Star Wars series.

The panel segment began by introducing us to the series, which aims to evoke the feelings you’d get when watching classic AMBLIN projects, and then announcing more of the series cast, including the child actors who are leading the show, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith. We then saw footage from the show, which gave us more insight into the dynamics of the series. We saw shots of the kids in school, riding speeder-bikes, and on spaceships before ending the teaser by showing off Jude Law, now confirmed to play a Jedi in the series. Additionally, the teaser trailer alerted eagle-eyed viewers to the casting of Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) in the series.

There is still no official synopsis for Skeleton Crew other than the vague information given last year, which reads, “The show takes place during the post–’Return of the Jedi’ reconstruction that follows the fall of the Empire, the same as ‘The Mandalorian,’ but its plot remains a secret. It’s created and executive-produced by director Jon Watts and writer Chris Ford, who made ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ for Marvel. A casting notice was called for four children, around 11 to 12 years old. Inside Lucasfilm, the show is being described as a galactic version of classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.

Over the past few weeks, our friends over at One Take News published a number of exclusive stories providing information about the directing roster for the series, which was officially confirmed today. The series features six distinct directors (and directing duos), made up of Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home), David Lowery (Peter Pan & Wendy), Daniels (Everything Everywhere All At Once), Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts), Bryce Dallas Howard (The Mandalorian), and Lee Issac Chung (Minari).

Skeleton Crew is expected to release on Disney+ this year.
